Undertale OST - Hopes And Dreams (OGG Ver.)

0:21 - 0:26

Asriel Dreemurr heals 30 HP to you when you play him, effectively fully recovering the user (unless one has increased their max HP with the help of Health, Force of Nature and/or Innkeeper.

However, in return, he is the most expensive non-TOKEN card in the game at 17G. At that cost, he does have decently solid stats of 11/9.

Asriel Dreemurr is generally considered to be a niche option, as at 17 cost and virtually no offensive value (the stats are good but definitely not worth 17G) it does not fit into most decks. However in slow and defensive playstyles like stall, Asriel Dreemurr is often an invaluable resource.

Synergies[]

Cards that increase your max HP combo well with Asriel Dreemurr. Despite him healing you for a flat 30 HP, he still appreciates a greater window to use his effect fully, as without HP-increasing effects you have to be dangerously close to death to use Asriel Dreemurr's full potential.

As it is the most expensive card in the game, Asriel Dreemurr is often a target for Lost Alphys. Conveniently, Determination is a great pick for stall.

Counters[]

Because this card is so expensive, it can be harder to play around Mettaton EX while saving up for it. EX players can use this to their advantage, if the Asriel Dreemurr player isn't careful.

In general this card does not do anything to the enemy board, only healing the user. This makes Asriel Dreemurr incredibly hard to play when the enemy board still has big threats, as this can result in losing most of the recovered health immediately after. If you can take being hit with 11 ATK, it is generally advised to ignore Asriel Dreemurr if you cannot conveniently remove it and just focus on your opponent's health.

Trivia[]

  • Asriel Dreemurr's stats mirror those of Angel of Death, being 11/9 and 9/11 respectively.
