Angel of Death (AoD for short) is the 5th Determination Rarity monster added to the game, in Beta 13.4. Previous Versions can be found here.

Overview[]

Undertale_OST_-_Burn_in_Despair!_Extended

Undertale OST - Burn in Despair! Extended

When played, AoD allows you to choose any other monster on the board and place an exact copy of it on the far right of your board, including enemy monsters. (So if you copy an ally monster, you have 2 of the same.) This makes it function somewhat like an improved mix of Echo Fish and Cloning (especially since Beta 47.0's change to Cloning).

When AoD dies, the empty spaces on your board will be filled with a random Lost Soul each. You can't get 2 of the same Lost Soul from AoD's Dust, nor Thrashing Machine, but this is a good thing as all Lost Souls are 3/3/3 Dust monsters, allowing you to keep a bit of board control.

Placement[]

Lost Souls

All Lost Souls in one image.

A very useful tip: Place AoD on the far right of the board. As if the opponent used a board wipe effect like that of Asgore or Hyper Goner, AoD will be the last one to be killed, which results in your entire board being empty, filling it entirely again with Lost Souls. If AoD is further to the left, it dies before anything to its right, still filling the empty slots with Lost Souls, but the board wipe will then continue with the remaining slots, instantly killing them in the process.

Even though this will active each of their Dust effects, it's more often better to have them as decently strong units on the board, forcing the opponent to use even more cards to kill them or allowing you to use them fully during your next turn.

Non-Lost Souls to AoD's right have it even worse, as AoD can't summon a Lost Soul in their place, but the board wipe will kill them as well, and they probably won't have a Dust you can make use of.

Determination[]

The AoD is a Determination card, and as with all cards of this rarity, it can't be Silenced and in Ranked, it's banned to have more than 1 in your deck since Beta 13.1. It can also only be obtained through:

  • Normal Packs (0.01% or 1/10K chance);
  • Final Packs (which you get 1 of at LV 200);
  • Special Events (on Twitter or Facebook);
  • Crafting with DT Fragments. You can get DT Fragments by:
    • Completing all (15) Season Quests.
    • Reaching Ruby IV or higher in Ranked. (Ruby & Diamond = 1; Legend = 2)

Trivia[]

  • Before the introduction of the Generated Rarity in Beta 30.0, Lost Souls 1-5 were Legendary (and Lost Soul 6 Epic), the same as their normal versions. Because of this, they would play the same Theme as them when replayed.
    • With Beta 30.0 also changing that Themes play when a monster gets summoned through any means rather than just your hand, all Lost Souls lost their Theme. Otherwise, up to 4 Themes would play at once which is extremely loud.
  • The Lost Soul Skins are unique for different reasons.
    • Sad Lost Sans is the first Card Skin that's a gif instead of a png.
      • Its Emote is also the first of its kind.
    • Since the release of Lost Skeleton and Lost Sauce, this marks the first time more than 1 Artist (at the same time) has a Card Skin of a Generated card without also having one for the craftable one.
      • Lost Sauce is also Virsenus' first Card Skin not named as "X Time".
